Goole’s only underground restaurant and bar. Our family friendly, fully accessible restaurant is the perfect venue for any occasion or celebration. With or without the use of our multi-storey children’s playbarn, we can help make any event extra special.

Two local brothers took over ownership of the building on Aire Street in early 2016, being born and bred in Goole and having fond memories of the Capricorn, they decided to invest and bring it back to life. Giving Goole the venue it was lacking.

Over the next 6 months, they striped the Capricorn back to the bare brick; rewiring, re-plumbing, fitted a brand new kitchen with brand new equipment, new furniture and decoration. Also adding under floor heating and a much needed disability lift in the new entrance on Aire Street.

They excavated hundreds of tons of earth from the car park, to create a stunning walled beer garden and uncovered an artesian well that had been covered up for decades.

Over the next 6 months, with the help of local skilled tradesmen, they created one of East Ridings finest restaurant/venue. They removed everything out of the building, the stairs for the old entrance were moved and refitted to create a brand new entrance on Aire Street. A brand new lift was also added to provide access to all.

“Both of our parents are disabled and we wanted them to get in and out of the restaurant as easy as any abled person can.”

The entire restaurant floor is perfectly level and a roomy disabled toilet facilities have been fitted to ensure EVERYONE can enjoy the Capricorn.

Since reopening the Capricorn in November 2016 we have received incredible feedback. From Sunday Carverys, Evening Fine Dining, Private Functions and Afternoon Tea each have put us more and more in the public eye.

“This has only been possible with the incredible staff we have, each dedicating their time not for the wages, but because of the love for the restaurant.”

The Capricorn Restaurant & Bar is a family friendly restaurant and is proud to be part of Goole.
